Image request patterns
The Image rules view of a domain holds one setting that decides eligibility: the image request pattern. It is saved as a draft, tested against a sample URL, and only promoted to live traffic when the domain configuration is deployed.
How it works
- Common image extensions optimizes the raster formats most sites serve, with no pattern to write
- All image URLs widens eligibility to every http(s) request; a custom URL regex narrows it to paths you define
- Do not optimize images stops eligibility for a domain while leaving every other setting untouched
Good to know
- These views are in-page state on the domain page, not separate URLs, so a shared link reopens the domain overview and you click the section again
- Image request pattern decides eligibility only; the formats and quality actually generated are set separately in the Image optimization view
- Nothing in this view changes live traffic until you deploy the domain
