Connect a domain

Adding a domain starts a six-step onboarding flow that you can walk through before any live traffic moves. WebOptiva shows one clear next action at a time — ownership TXT, origin, traffic routing, automatic SSL, deployment — and every record it asks for comes from the same API response the dashboard reads, so what you copy is exactly what gets verified. Once the last step completes, your domain flips from PENDING to ACTIVE and WebOptiva starts serving it.

How it works

  • Enter a hostname and a public origin URL; the domain appears as pending with a next action
  • Add the generated ownership TXT record to prove you control the domain
  • Create the traffic routing records so queries resolve through WebOptiva
  • Confirm the origin is reachable and safe before WebOptiva fronts it
  • Automatic SSL issuance and renewal, with live certificate inspection
  • Enable acceleration only once ownership, SSL, origin, and DNS are verified

Good to know

  • Every origin URL is checked against a safety guard — private, local, and reserved addresses are rejected
  • Removing a domain is a soft delete — it moves to DISABLED rather than being erased
  • Local testing can target a registered domain by sending an x-weboptiva-host header instead of real DNS
  • Checking DNS records only reads public DNS — it never modifies your zone
  • Plan entitlements can hide individual setup sections; check your plan before assuming a tab is missing
