Activate 1-click Under Attack protection during traffic emergencies to stop server crashes and keep your site online
Every website owner dreads the moment their site stops responding because of an unexpected flood of malicious requests, a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) event, or a massive automated credential-stuffing attack. WebOptiva provides an emergency button called Under Attack Mode that you can switch on instantly to keep your website alive.
How Under Attack Mode saves your website#
When you activate Under Attack Mode, WebOptiva immediately engages two powerful emergency shields:
- Aggressive Traffic Clamping: Traffic speed limits are tightened by 80%. A visitor normally permitted 100 requests per minute is temporarily restricted to 20 requests per minute, instantly cutting malicious attack concurrency by four-fifths.
- Origin Cache Lock Fallback: If your web hosting server begins struggling, timing out, or throwing 502/503 errors under the load, WebOptiva automatically serves previously saved cached copies of your web pages. Your real visitors continue reading articles and viewing products, and your site never appears broken.
Step-by-step: how to activate emergency defense#
- Open
Security operations. At the very top of the screen, you will see a prominent emergency banner. - Make sure the affected domain name is selected in the domain dropdown.

UNDER ATTACK MODE ACTIVEalongside the scheduled auto-expiry time.
Automatic shutoff — no need to remember#
You do not need to worry about forgetting to turn emergency protection off. When the chosen timer expires, WebOptiva automatically returns your website to standard everyday security settings. If the attack stops early, you can click the Stand Down / Deactivate button at any time to return to normal immediately.
Expected result#
An instant emergency safety net that rescues your website from crashing during heavy traffic storms, keeps your pages visible to the public, and automatically turns off when the storm passes.
