Metadata drafts become SEO rules scoped to matching paths
Approval is the human gate: a draft metadata action becomes approved (recording who approved and when), and only then can publishing turn it into a real SEO rule.
Approving#
On a draft row in Generated drafts press Approve — only draft-status actions qualify (Only a draft awaiting review can be approved (this one is approved). is the refusal shape). The row's pill flips to approved and the toast reminds you of the next step: Draft approved. Deploy it to apply it to live traffic. Reject is the other option (toast Draft rejected.), and approval alone creates no rules — see Deploy schema and redirects for what publish does.
Publishing metadata#
Publish on the approved row runs the metadata publisher: it creates (or updates, deduplicated by name) a single SEO rule per domain named Auto-injected metadata (WebOptiva) with pathPattern: .* and your proposed title/description, then deploys SEO rules to the serving path so the proxy injects them on pages that have no explicit rule. Toast: Draft published to the proxy.
After approval#
The approved row now offers Publish (and keeps Reject history intact in the audit trail). Export remains available at any post-draft stage: the exported text renders inline on the row as a <pre> block, giving your team a copyable record of exactly what was approved. Every transition writes activity — content_action.approved on approval, content_action.published on publish — so the change log shows who approved what and when, which matters when two people share the review queue.
The auto-injection shortcut#
The panel's first section (Automatic SEO injection) has two checkboxes: Enable SEO injection for this domain and Auto-inject metadata and auto-approve generated drafts. With both on, completed audits automatically approve and deploy matching metadata drafts (autoApproveAndDeploySeoDrafts) — the hint's promise that Approving a draft deploys it as a rule when auto-injection is enabled. The manual approve/publish path stays available (and mandatory) whenever auto-injection is off. Remember the copy on save: Changes apply to live traffic immediately and invalidate cached pages for this domain.
